Safe Buying Guide

Safe Buying Guide Trade with confidence on AllSale. Most members are genuine, but a few simple habits keep you safe when buying or selling anything online. 1. KEEP IT ON THE PLATFORM Chat, agree on price, and (where available) pay through AllSale. Conversations and payments on the platform leave a record we can help you with. Be cautious of anyone who immediately pushes you to WhatsApp, email, or off-platform payment. 2. MEET SMART FOR PICKUPS - Meet in a public, well-lit place — a cafe, mall, or police station car park. - Bring a friend for high-value items. - Inspect the item fully before handing over money. - For vehicles: verify the seller's ID matches the ownership papers and consider a pre-purchase background check. 3. PAY SAFELY - Never wire money overseas or pay with gift cards or crypto for a local item — these are almost always scams. - For direct deals, a bank transfer you can verify, or cash on pickup after inspecting the item, is safest. - Never pay a "deposit to hold" an item you have not seen from a seller you do not know. 4. SPOT THE RED FLAGS - Price far below market value ("too good to be true"). - Seller "overseas" who will "arrange a courier" after you pay. - Pressure to decide instantly, or sob stories attached to payment requests. - Requests for your card details, passwords, or verification codes — AllSale will NEVER ask for these. 5. PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT - Use a strong, unique password and keep your phone number current — we use it for two-factor verification. - Never share verification codes with anyone, including someone claiming to be AllSale support. 6. IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG - Report the listing or user with the Report button — our team reviews every report. - If you paid through AllSale checkout, contact us immediately at info@allsale.co.nz with your order number. - For fraud, contact your bank straight away and report to Netsafe (www.netsafe.org.nz) or NZ Police (105.police.govt.nz). Remember: AllSale never handles payments made privately between buyers and sellers, and we are not liable for disputes or losses in direct deals — so use the tips above and trust your instincts.
